Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen. [hebrews 11:1]
When I think about the heroes of faith, it really amazes me. For me faith was a process.
Prior to July 1, 2008 I was a man that made his own way. I had been raised by a widow (My Mother) and she grew up on a farm so she was convinced that hard work was the only thing that would help you in life. I had bought into that hook, line, and sinker. Therefore I worked hard and made a very good living. On July 1, 2008 that soon changed.
I was heavily invested in real-estate and very shortly after my born again experience, the market collapsed! I went from self-reliance to dead broke in less than a year. I attempted to get a job for months with no success. Slowly I had to learn that God would meet all my needs and learn the true difference between wants and needs.
The nation of Israel wandered in the desert for 40 years eating manna that would only last for the day. Why did God choose this method to sustain them? He wanted the foundation of Christianity to start with an intimacy that only comes from a daily dependence on Him. He wanted faith in Him and His constant provision to resonate throughout the generations. Sadly, many that say they follow Jesus will never experience the intimacy that comes with audacious faith.
We have designed our lives to be so full of extra provision that many of us will never need to exercise our faith muscles. I thank God that I have had to rely on daily manna for a large portion of my born again life and I have experienced the aroma of His embrace because of it. Brothers and sisters, God is not a man that He should lie. [Numbers 23:19] He promises in Matthew 6, that He will take care of you as He does all of His creation.
Do not hesitate or resist when life calls you to see the unseen or believe in the things you
have yet to see God do. Living a life of faith is the one thing that was required from all the heroes we read about in Hebrews 11.
I will leave you with this – When you pass from this earth will the faith you had impact the lives of your loved ones? If not, start changing that today!
In Christ, Skipper
